After dinner with our new Toronto friends we decided to go see the famous CN Tower. We were literally running—racing to get to the top of the tower to catch the sunset and get some sweet photos of Toronto at dusk. While running to the tower (that was 3 miles away), we saw this little nook and stopped for this photo. We took 20 seconds to take a few photos and we were off. This will forever be one of my favorite photos of my love. I’ll race the shadows any day with him.
About the title: “Same, Same but Different” was a saying that Matt and I would hear when we were walking the streets of Hong Kong a few years ago and it’s been an inside joke ever since. Canada felt so much like the States in so many ways with subtle differences.

Matt and I went to Toronto, Canada last week for a little much needed vacation. Since Matt just finished his 4th year of grad school and this Spring was a busy time for LLP we thought that it would be a nice break before Matt’s Summer speaking schedule and my shoot schedule begins. And oohhhh it was! The first question one person must ask themselves when they get to Toronto is “why wouldn’t I buy a hot dog from a 24 hour/day hot dog stand?” Seeing many logical reasons why we shouldn’t, we denied all logic and indulged in the awesomeness. I hope this makes you hungry!
I will be posting Toronto blog posts all week. This Toronto blog series will be a little insight into our treks. Please check throughout the week and then plan your vacation to Toronto, because it’s awesome and Canadians are too.
So here’s to Toronto, where vacations and diversity happen:
This is just before this lovely lady told me that I needed to pay for this photo of her. I did and it was worth it.
Bacon bits: for the times when you don’t have enough pork on your hot dogs.
Yum.
paul: That totally reminds me of this hot dog stand in Athens that was only open between 11pm-6am. Best. Hotdogs. Ever. See you guys in Toronto? ( May 25, 2010 1:02 am )
Erin Woolsey: ohhh these look so fantastic! i'm a sucker for fair food, any time, any place. At a baseball game, circus, street cart vendor....I'm there....haha. Such a delightful weakness! ( May 19, 2010 11:19 am )
stephen: wow. I am so hungry now! ( May 18, 2010 8:30 am )
Our great friend, Ben, saw these photos and said that I should start blogging “things that interrupt our photoshoots.” I laughed hysterically when he suggested it (while wishing at the same time that I had come up with the idea all on my own). To his credit, he is a genius and I dedicate this series of posts to the mastermind—the great Benjamin Young. I would put a link to his blog, but he took it down (much to my dismay). His whit and intellect could all at once challenge SNL & Obama.
So, here’s to Ben (& to this dear old man)!
Mom: This is an "old" man? Just askin--because if he is well--I'm not seeing it---- maybe because I am OLD..... ( May 5, 2010 6:51 pm )
Amy Carter: LOVE that idea! It's a best seller idea for sure! ( May 4, 2010 9:33 pm )
Austin, Texas made for a beautiful backdrop to a fun engagement shoot for Rorey and Andy. I had a great time photographing in the lovely city with two beautiful people. Their love is absolutely adorable and they were up for anything that came our way.
Much love to you guys and a happy ever after!

All that to say, so glad you had a great time in my country and you've only made my resolve to get to the top of the CN Tower before I leave the area even greater! Your photos are always stunning, but I love seeing a city a know in a new light. Thanks for that! ( May 22, 2010 10:25 am )
