Yesterday my parents came over to give our daughter, Life, my mom’s wedding dress to have made into Life’s christening gown. I realized in this moment how precious a piece of fabric can be and how many emotions it can evoke. When opening the preservation box that the dress has been in for the past 36 years, a wave of sentimentality came over me. The last time this gown was worn was by my then 19-year-old mother. The next time arms will wear this gown is at the baptism of our daughter. Marriage and baptism: two sacraments. Two people wearing the same fabric for two holy moments. Words fail to describe how thankful I am for this gift to Life. Thank you so much, Mom & Dad.
