New Adventures // Yale

We are half-way through 2012 and I cannot believe where the time has gone! What an exciting year full of changes and surprises. I am thrilled to announce that Matthew and I are moving to New Haven, Connecticut the first week of August for Matthew to begin a PhD program in New Testament at Yale University. I’m so proud of him for all of his hard work during the last 6 years as he has prepared for this next step so thoroughly. We look forward to road trips to NYC, Boston, Vermont and The Cape as we spend the next 5 years in New Haven. I am, also, especially looking forward to auditing classes at Yale in all my spare time (ha!). It’s exciting to think about raising our kids near the ocean and so close to so much rich history.

We have signed a new lease in Connecticut and we will most likely be pulling out of the great state of Texas on August 6th with our giant Budget truck. Stay tuned for photos of our journey along the way. The packing frenzy has already begun and the planning of a few great going away parties is underway. We will most certainly miss our dear Texas, but we will be back often to visit our many family, friends and beloved Texas church.

I will still continue to shoot and run business as usual up in the Northeast. My plan is to slow down for a while as we transition with our sweet babies and as I help make our home organized and peaceful. But, I would love to hear from you all if you are planning a wedding in the northeast! And to all of you Texas Brides, I’d love to come home for your wedding! So, email me and we’ll begin chatting about how I can photograph your big day. I’d love to hear from you!

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

-Mark Twain

Proud Yalies!

And here she is…

Home sweet home!

We still haven’t been inside the home.  Crazy? Kind of. But, we trust that it will fit us nicely and we hope to make great friends in our neighborhood.

Thanks for all the love and support that you have given to us along the way! And for all the support in our new great adventure.

xo,

Lauren

Amanda B: How exciting! I know it's been years since I've seen you, but congrats to you guys on your upcoming adventure. And what a picturesque little house. Blessings to you guys as you move up north, and praying that you meet a sweet community and the Lord blesses your time there. ( June 25, 2012 3:27 pm )

Jenny Simmons // The Becoming Promo Photos

Photographing the beautiful Jenny Simmons was an honor. This singer/songwriter/mother/wife is talented and gracious. She is honest, bold and unafraid. She possesses the rare gift of confidence and grace that puts others at ease and invites them to live in the same freedom.  It is not often that I get to talk with another mother about the challenges and joys of motherhood while balancing a career, a marriage, and other responsibilities on the job. But, spending time with Jenny was a treasure. Also, it was an adventure I will not forget! These outdoor photos were photographed on the day when the Dallas metroplex was hit with three separate tornadoes–one of which began on the same street where we were photographing!

Her upcoming record, The Becoming, like Jenny will be honest and beautiful. I’m looking forward to its release.
